HiTS is a non-departmental program of Harvard University that is open to faculty based in any academic institution in eastern Massachusetts. Current HiTS faculty have their primary appointment in the departments of Harvard Medical School, Harvard Business School, Tufts University, MIT, Northeastern University, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, the Massachusetts General Hospital, the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Boston Children’s Hospital.
Funding and Support
HITS was made possible by the people of Massachusetts via two capital grants from the Massachusetts Life Science Center as well as the generous support of the Amy and Joshua Boger Fund, the Henri and Belinda Termeer Fund, the Giovanni Armenise Harvard Foundation, and the Office of the Dean of Harvard Medical School.
Individual research projects are funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Defense Advanced Projects Agency (DARPA), Ludwig Cancer Research, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Gray Foundation, the Harvard Medical School Q-FASTR Program, and by corporations including Sage Therapeutics and Merck.
